BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Alyssa Francese has now scored three goals in four matches this season.
Her contribution on Sunday lifted the Stony Brook women's soccer team to a 1-0 win against host Binghamton.
Francese tapped in the rebound of a
Fanny Götesson header off a corner kick in the 57th minute for the match's lone score
Stony Brook improved to 2-0 in America East play.
Emerson Richmond Burke recorded three saves en route to her first career shutout.
It was Francese's 33rd career goal, matching Kim Canada (1993-94) for third on the program's all-time list.
"Fanny did a great job getting up to win the header, putting it on frame," Francese said. "It deflected off their post player, and I was fortunate to be in the right spot to put it in just in front of the goal line."
The Seawolves return to action next Sunday against NJIT at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
