STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook men's soccer team's seniors played their final regular-season game of the spring season on Friday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
And
Gabriel Fernandes, one of the six seniors for the Seawolves, scored a late first-half goal to pull Stony Brook even.
However, Stony Brook ultimately was eliminated from postseason contention with a 3-2 loss to NJIT at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
Regsan Watkins had a hat trick for the Highlanders.
Kameron Blaise pulled Stony Brook within 3-2 in the 78th minute with Stony Brook playing with 10 men.
Curtis Copenhaver made his first collegiate start in goal. He had replaced
Edmond Kaiser a couple of minutes into last week's game at UMBC after Kaiser departed due to injury.
Stony Brook recognized seniors

Stephen Turnbull,
Kori Cupid,
Jerren Nixon,
Joey Landicino and Fernandes.
The Seawolves completed the match a man down after Turnbull received a red card in the 66th minute.
The Seawolves (1-5-1, 1-3-1 AE) complete their spring season next Friday at UMass Lowell.
