STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Make it a perfect week against the Big East for the Stony Brook softball team.
Melissa Rahrich tossed a one-hit shutout and the Seawolves defeated St. John's 2-0 on Tuesday at University Field.
Stony Brook had defeated Seton Hall by the identical score six days ago on a one-hit shutout by
Dawn Bodrug.
"That was one of Mel's best games of the year," coach
Megan T. Bryant said. "She had really good command. She was mixing her pitches well and had great composure out there in the circle. Our pitching staff is one of our strengths and a big part of what we do."
On Tuesday,
Jordyn Nowakowski drew a bases-loaded walk and
Riley Craig followed with an RBI single in a two-run third inning to account for the scoring.
The Seawolves improved to 19-8 overall.
They host UMass in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at University Field.
