Dawn Bodrug Continues Dominance, but Softball Suffers First AE Defeat in Game 2

ORONO, Maine — Dawn Bodrug continues to roll, but the Stony Brook softball team suffered its first America East blemish on Saturday.

The Seawolves defeated host Maine 3-0 in the opener before suffering a 3-2 walk-off loss in the nightcap.

In the opener, Bodrug tossed a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and Jordyn Nowakowski, Kyra McFarland and Melissa Rahrich each drove in runs.

In Game 2, Nicole McCarvill's two-run single in the fifth staked Stony Brook to a 2-1 lead. Maine drew even a half-inning later. The Black Bears then won the game in the seventh when pinch runner Brianna Neely scored on an errant throw while stealing.

The teams complete the three-game series on Sunday in Orono.
