Luke Coulter took advantage of his moment in the spotlight.
The Riverhead native finished second in Heat 2 with a time of 1:48.97, qualifying him for the NCAA Quarterfinals in the 800m before he bowed out of the competition Friday night to conclude his chase for Eugene.
Stony Brook in all sent seven runners to the preliminaries, with
Robert Becker also securing a solid showing. His 1500m run clocked in at 3:46.38, four spots and just over one second from qualifying for the Friday night quarterfinals.
Cameron Avery's time of 29:31.43 inside the top 20 in the 10k in his curtain call for the Seawolves.
On the women's side,
Amanda Stead produced a season-best 54.01 time in the 400m, clocking in 0.71 seconds outside of a qualification spot.
