Baseball Honors Seniors, Splits with NJIT

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook baseball team recognized its seniors before its final regular-season home series on Saturday. The Seawolves then moved closer to clinching the America East title.

Stony Brook split a doubleheader with NJIT, falling 2-0 and then winning 11-3 at Joe Nathan Field.

Chris Hamilton's bases-clearing double in the sixth allowed Stony Brook to take command of the nightcap. Hamilton went 3-for-5 with five RBIs in Game 2.

Eric Foster made his season debut, handling the ninth.

Foster combined with Nick DeGennaro, Mark Alday and Adam Erickson on a one-hitter.

Before the doubleheader, director of athletics Shawn Heilbron and coach Matt Senk recognized Erickson, Brian Herrmann, Hamilton, Jared Milch, John LaRocca and Sam Turcotte on Senior Day.

The teams meet again on Sunday. First pitch of the doubleheader begins at noon.
