HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Freshman
Gabby Daniels found the scoresheet in her first career game as a Seawolf, but the Seawolves fell in their season opener at Hofstra 5-1 at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The Pride scored a pair of goals in the first 13 minutes and would not look back to knock off a new-look Stony Brook club in its fall 2021 curtain-raiser.
Daniels finished off a set piece delivered by
Kerry Pearson to get Stony Brook on the board in the 55th.
Emerson Richmond Burke, who made the start in the first half, saved four Pride shots in the opening 45 minutes.
Nicolette Pasquarella made her first career appearance in goal, saving one shot in the second 45.
STATS AND NOTES
- Burke's career high is six saves, which she hit twice in the final four games of the spring.
- Pearson and Francese both assisted on the Daniels goal. It is Kerry's and Alyssa's third career assists.
- Along with Pasquarella and Daniels, Asdis Birna, Aneta Sovakova, Morgan Elliott, Ella Lokrantz and Alexa Jindal all made their Seawolves debuts.
