STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Stony Brook University men's track and field team finished in fourth overall at the Penn 10-Team Select meet on Saturday at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Senior
Robert Becker led the way for the Seawolves taking first-place in the 3000 meter with a time of 8:15.17. Sophomore
Shane Henderson followed behind Becker in second-place.
Conor Malanaphy,
Aiden Smyth, and
Carlos Santos rounded out the 3000 meter for Stony Brook earning finishes within the top 10. In addition, they all recorded new personal bests in the 3000 meter.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Becker led the way for the Seawolves taking first-place in the 3000 meter with a time of 8:15.17, setting a new personal best. Henderson followed behind Becker in second-place with a time of 8:16.17, beating his previous record of 8:29.99.
- Malanaphy crossed the line in 8:19.59 earning a fourth-place finish in the 3000 meter and a new personal best.
- Smyth and Santos rounded out the 3000 meter finishing within the top 10 with times of 8:22.95 and 8:32.87, respectively, and setting new personal bests.
- Patrick Abel clocked in at 48.63 in the 400 meter finishing in second and recording a new personal best. Richmond Boateng finished right behind in third with his time of 49.05 and also recording a new personal best.
- Miles Ryan set a new personal best in the 60 meter hurdles with a final time of 8.50, beating his previous best of 8.70.
- The Seawolves ended the night with a bang earning a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:18.02. The relay team was comprised of Nicolas Lavazoli, Aleksandar Zdravkovic, Abel, and Boateng.
