Seawolves Extend Winning Streak to Seven-Straight with Road Win at Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Stony Brook women's basketball team defeated Vermont, 71-63, on Wednesday night up north in Burlington, Vt. The Seawolves improve to 16-2, 7-1 America East on the season as it was led by four student-athletes scoring in double figures.

With the victory over Vermont, Stony Brook extends its winning streak to seven games in a row. The streak ties the Seawolves' longest winning streak of the season when they won seven-straight wins from November 9-28. Stony Brook has now won nine out of its last 10 games.

Senior guard Anastasia Warren led the Seawolves with a team-high 19 points. The 19 points were her most in a game since scoring 19 against St. John's on November 11. Warren was followed by junior guard Gigi Gonzalez (18 points), senior guard Earlette Scott (17 points), and graduate forward India Pagan (10 points).

Stony Brook took a 57-55 lead after Scott converted a pair of free-throws with 6:54 left to play in the fourth quarter. The Seawolves kept the momentum going as they did not trail again through the remainder of the contest.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Tonight was a back and forth battle between two strong teams. I'm proud of our team for fighting back after a slow start. As we approach February and March, winning becomes harder, especially on the road. Our guard play was fantastic tonight - Annie, Gigi, and E-Scotty willed us to win," said head coach Ashley Langford
