RICHMOND, Va. – Stony Brook freshman forward Gabrielle Côté takes home CAA Rookie of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday. The freshman helped the Seawolves to a 1-0-1 week in CAA play and played a pivotal role in Stony Brook's 4-4 draw at Drexel.
Côté is the second member of the Stony Brook women's soccer program to be named CAA Rookie of the Week this season (
Linn Beck was the first on Sep. 26). Côté recorded her first two career goals against the Dragons on Sunday afternoon. Her first goal on the day came in the fourth minute as she was able to tie the game up at 1-1.
With six seconds to play in the contest and the Seawolves trailing 4-3, Côté headed the ball into the back of the net to tie the game up at 4-4 and clinch a draw and a crucial conference point in dramatic fashion. She was the final member of the freshman class to record a first-career goal this season.
The Seawolves are back in action when they return to LaValle Stadium on Thursday, October 13, for a 6 p.m. kick-off against CAA foe Charleston.
