Stout Defense & Maracina’s Game-Winner Lead Seawolves to First CAA Road Win

NEWARK, Del. – The Seawolves used a stout defensive effort and a late goal from freshman forward Hannah Maracina to secure their first-ever CAA road win with a 1-0 victory over Delaware on Thursday night.

Maracina broke a scoreless tie in the 74th minute with her fourth goal of the season which proved to be the game-winner. Maracina was setup by freshman midfielder Ashley Manor who sent a corner kick right outside the box.

Maracina headed the ball forward which was attempted to be cleared away by Blue Hens' defender Lea Panagiotidis. Panagiotidis' clear was redirected by Maracina which found the back of the net to give the Seawolves a 1-0 lead.

Stony Brook's defense stood strong as sophomore goalkeeper Nicolette Pasquarella kept a clean sheet and made six saves in the win. Delaware attempted 12 shots, 11 of which came in the first half, and sent six on target. Pasquarella turned away each of the Blue Hens' scoring attempts en route to her second win of the season.
