Women's Soccer Celebration - 2026 CAA Quarterfinal

Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stony Brook Shuts Out Hofstra, Advances to CAA Semifinal to Face Top-Seeded Towson

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Stony Brook women's soccer took down second-seeded Hofstra, 1-0, in the 2026 CAA Women's Soccer North Division Quarterfinal on Thursday afternoon. Juni Einarsson netted the game-winning goal, while Stony Brook's defense held Hofstra without a shot on goal en route to its ninth shutout of the season.

It was a generally quiet first half in Hempstead, with each side feeling each other out in the second meeting in less than a week between the two Long Island programs. Statistically, the Seawolves controlled the tempo over the first 45 minutes. Stony Brook registered six shots and the Seawolves' defensive pressure held Hofstra's attack without a shot in the first half.

The Pride had two opportunities from the corner, neither of which created a chance offensively. Action picked up significantly in the second half, with Stony Brook continuing to go forward and create opportunities offensively.

A Juni Einarsson blocked shot generated Stony Brook's third corner, and first of the second half, just over 10 minutes into the second period of play. Maya Corbett played a cross for Lisa Muller, who headed it towards the net, but it was guided away by Hofstra's keeper. Muller's chance was the first true test for either goalkeeper through the first 50-plus minutes of postseason action in Nassau County.

Stony Brook broke through in the 63rd minute, courtesy of Einarsson. Emily Lemke and Corbett combined on the assist to set up Einarsson's left-footed strike that opened the scoring at Captains Field.

Camryn Goodman nearly added to the Seawolves' lead with 12 minutes remaining in regulation, but her shot was denied and cleared from danger. Down the other end of the pitch, a solid defensive play from Goodman led to a Hofstra corner. Jona Hennings skied above a cluster of bodies in the box to punch it away from danger. Less than a minute later, a Pride attacker in past Stony Brook's backline sailed a shot wide.

Goodman continued to make her presence felt in the waning moments. She was taken down and denied a goal-scoring chance just beyond the box. The play led to the second booking for Hofstra's Alexia Des Croisselles, sending her to the sideline and forcing the Pride to play with 10 players for the final 5:07.

The Seawolves closed out Hofstra, holding the Pride without a shot on goal and registering their ninth clean sheet of the season.

For the third straight season, Stony Brook will play in the semifinal round. The Seawolves head to Towson on Sunday, November 8 to take on the top-seeded Tigers with a chance for a third straight CAA Championship Game berth on the line. The CAA North Division Semifinal will start at 1 pm and stream live on FloCollege and the FloSports Channel on Prime from Towson, Maryland.
