Women’s Soccer’s von Drigalski, Sleiman, Peters and Pearson Named to 2022-23 CSC Academic All-District Team

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team was recognized for their excellence in the classroom as four student-athletes were selected by the College Sports Communicators for the 2022-23 Academic All-District Team.
 
Senior Catharina von Drigalski, Madison Sleiman, Rachael Peters and junior Kerry Pearson received the honors for the first time in their careers.
 
The Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team awards the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the pitch and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA, have a minimum of one year completed at their current institution and had to have played in 50 percent of Stony Brook's games.
 
Catharina von Drigalski started all 19 matches for the Seawolves in the 2022 campaign, tallying 1,470 minutes on the pitch. The defender was tied for third on the team in points, notching two goals and had a team-best seven assists, earning her a spot on the All-CAA Second Team. The German is a double-major, as she is currently working on a bachelor's degree in business and psychology. During her career in the America East, von Drigalski was a member of the America East Honor Roll team in the fall of 2019 and captured the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2020 and 2021. The senior was recognized by Stony Brook University's Dean's List every semester of her career and currently owns a 3.84 GPA.
 
Oregon native Rachael Peters played in 18 games and started one of those for the Seawolves this fall. Peters finished the season with two assists and tallied 420 minutes for the squad as a defender. The senior is majoring in biology and possesses a 3.94 GPA. Peters has been honored on the Dean's List by Stony Brook University in all six semesters during her collegiate career. Previously, the defender was recognized by the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fall semesters in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
 
Madison Sleiman, a senior, appeared in 16 matches this past season, which tied a career-best for the Arizona native. Sleiman dished out two assists during her 375 minutes of play and was a key threat for the Seawolves' defensive unit. She is currently working on her bachelor's degree in business and psychology, while holding a 3.88 GPA. Since becoming a Seawolf, Sleiman has been a member of the Stony Brook University Dean's List each semester. Also, the senior was awarded America East Honor Roll membership in the fall of 2019 and America East Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2019, 2020, and 2021.
 
Junior Kerry Pearson, a defender, also started all 19 games that she played in during the season. Pearson collected three assists during her junior campaign and led the defensive front to average 1.89 goals against. The Long Island native is majoring in business management in the College of Business where she has a 3.88 GPA. She has been recognized by Stony Brook University by capturing Dean's List honors four straight times to begin her Stony Brook career and was a member of the Stony Brook Society of Distinguished Scholar-Athletes. Before the CAA, Pearson was a member of the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll in the first semester of 2020 and 2021.
 
 
CSC Academic All-District recipients advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

About the CSC Academic All-District Award
The nation's top student-athletes are honored for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Nominees needed a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.5-or-better and had to have played in 50 percent of the team's games. CSC Academic All-District® recipients advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
