11/18/2022 12:10:00 PM

THE BASICS: Stony Brook and Monmouth are set to renew their Tri-state area rivalry on Saturday, November 19, at noon. The game will air on FloFootball with Matt Harmon (play-by-play) and Eddy Occhipinti (analyst) on the call.

THE MATCHUP: The Seawolves and Hawks will meet for the first time since September 22, 2007, when Stony Brook picked up a 21-15 victory at LaValle Stadium. From 1999-2007, Stony Brook and Monmouth were both members of the Northeast Conference (NEC) for football and went head-to-head in each of those seasons. Monmouth holds the advantage in the all-time series, 5-4.

LAST TIME OUT: Stony Brook was narrowly edged by Towson in Week 11, 21-17, at LaValle Stadium. Redshirt freshman quarterback Daron Bryden went 18-35 for a career-high 273 yards and two touchdowns against the Tigers. He tossed a 70-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Harris Jr., which was the longest pass he threw in his career. Harris Jr. caught six passes for a total of 135 yards and one touchdown against Towson last week. The redshirt junior is the first Stony Brook student-athlete to record 130-plus receiving yards in a game since the 2019 campaign when Nick Anderson registered 205 receiving yards against Towson (Nov. 9, 2019).

KALER'S EMERGENCE: Redshirt junior linebacker Aidan Kaler led the defense against Towson, as he tallied a career-high 12 tackles, including two tackles for loss, one of which was a sack. He has totaled 21 tackles (nine solo, 12 assists), two TFLs, and one sack over his last two games. For the season, he has recorded 49 tackles (28 solo, 21 assists), four TFLs, and one sack. He ranks third on the team in tackles.

LUCKY 24: Since the 2011 season, SBU has compiled a 52-6 record when scoring 24 or more points in a game.
