NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. — Kristine Theys was able to grab her first singles win of the 2022 campaign, a 6-3, 7-5 defeat in the No. 4 slot, but the Stony Brook tennis team was not able to secure a victory, falling 6-1 to Seton Hall on Friday night in New Providence.
Stony Brook found itself on the wrong side of two, three-set matches in the singles portion and lost the two doubles matches that gave the point to the host Pirates by a combined five games.
After falling in a first set,
Chandrika Joshi was able to win the second convincingly at 6-2 but the third-set tiebreak by a 7-6 (2) final.
Loreto Villalba-Rubio was able to take the first set of her match at No. 2 singles, but could not lock down the second-set tiebreak and fell by a 10-7 final in the third.
