STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook University women's basketball team (22-3, 13-2 America East) completed the season sweep of UMBC (3-18, 2-9 America East), 66-56, on Wednesday night at Island Federal Arena. With the win, the Seawolves secured their 700
th victory in program history.
Stony Brook's 22 wins this season are the sixth-most in program history and the fourth-most in its Division I era. The Seawolves have won 20 or more games in three out of the last four seasons and collected a program record 28 victories during the 2019-20 campaign.

Nairimar Vargas-Reyes paced Stony Brook's offensive attack with 11 points apiece. Graduate Forward
Leighah-Amori Wool finished with nine points and dished out a season-high five assists as she helped facilitate the offense.
Stony Brook took a 29-21 lead into the halftime break and used a 22-point third quarter to pull away from the Retrievers. The Seawolves held UMBC to under 60 points and it marked the 14
th time this season that they have limited a team to fewer than 60 points in a contest (Stony Brook is 13-1 in those games).
STATS AND NOTES
- The Seawolves' improved to 12-1 at Island Federal Arena this season and have compiled a 58-12 record at home since the start of the 2017-18 season.
- Stony Brook won the battle for the boards as it outrebounded UMBC, 35-31. The Seawolves are now 17-0 in games when they outrebound their opponent.
- Vargas-Reyes came off the bench to score a team-high tying 11 points in 21 minutes. Her 11 points were the second-most points that she scored in a game this season (scored 13 points in a win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 28). Vargas-Reyes shot 5-of-8 from the field and pulled down three rebounds. It was the third time this season that she scored in double figures.
- Pagan finished the game with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds. She shot 4-of-6 from the field and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line. The forward has scored in double-digits in back-to-back games and has done so in 16 games this season. The Seawolves are a perfect 16-0 when Pagan scores in double figures.
- Wool dished out a season-high five assists as she helped pace the offense. The graduate scored nine points and pulled down four rebounds.
- Junior guard Gigi Gonzalez scored seven points, pulled down five rebounds, and handed out a pair of assists. Her five rebounds were her second-most that she recorded in a game this season.
- Sophomore forward Kelis Corley poured in seven points on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting from the floor.
- Stony Brook dominated in the paint as it outscored UMBC, 42-24.
- The Seawolves more than tripled the Retrievers in assists, dishing out 16 assists to their five on the game.

Stony Brook hits the road as it travels to Connecticut to take on Hartford on Saturday, February 19, at 2 p.m. The Seawolves are winners of three-straight against the Hawks and defeated them 77-39 in their last meeting on January 2.
