TAMPA, Fla. — After South Florida jumped out to an early lead, the Stony Brook baseball team was not able to recover offensively as they fell 9-3 to the Bulls on Saturday night.
Evan Fox and
Stanton Leuthner were able to combine for four hits at the top of the Stony Brook batting order to aid the offense.
Leuthner drove Fox in in the third with a RBI single to right field to start the Seawolves scoring output. After falling behind 5-1, Stony Brook cut into the deficit with a RBI groundout and an error that plated a runner.
South Florida added three in the seventh and a run in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
STATS AND NOTES
- Leuthner recorded his second, multi-hit game of the season with a pair of knocks in three at-bats. He has recorded a hit in all five games.
- Fox's two hits recorded his first, multi-hit performance of the season. He had eight such games a season ago.

- Adam Kuzmicki made his collegiate debut in right, recording his first career hit.
QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"We had much better at-bats tonight, which led to more scoring opportunities, but the three double plays we hit into really hurt us. Of course, falling behind by four runs early will always be a tough way to earn a win and that was very much the case tonight as well. We've got one more chance to earn a win this series, and if starting pitcher
Colton Book picks up where he left off last weekend, we should have the confidence to get it done" - head coach
Matt Senk.
