NORFOLK, Va. — The Stony Brook baseball team fell in its first two games of a three-game set at Old Dominion on Friday afternoon, with Old Dominion winning the opening contest 9-3 and the nightcap 8-3.
The hosts rattled off late runs in the first game, scoring the final six of the day after the matchup was knotted at three through five and a half.
Shane Paradine and
Evan Giordano got the Seawolves started in the third inning of game one, with back to back run-scoring hits to tie the game at two.
Matt Brown-Eiring's RBI groundout tied the game at three before Old Dominion took control.
In game two, Brown-Eiring continued his great play, driving in two of Stony Brook's runs with a RBI double in the first and an infield single that plated a run in the seventh.
STATS AND NOTES
- After reaching in both games, Stanton Leuthner's on-base streak extended to 13 games to start the season.
- Brown-Eiring has driven in a run in four consecutive games.
- With a pair of hits today, Matt Miceli recorded his first multi-hit game of his collegiate career.
- Paradine has now recorded a hit in six straight, with four of the six being multi-hit games.
