STONY BROOK, N.Y. — As the lockout ended, Stony Brook Baseball alums were able to take advantage.
Michael Wilson and Daniel Zamora each signed minor league contracts on the west coast, with Wilson inking with the Angels and Zamora signing with his hometown Dodgers.
A graduate of Bishop Amat in La Puente, Calif., Zamora has made 37 appearances in the big leagues since his debut in 2018. He posted a 3.00 ERA in his first year with the New York Mets, striking out 16 over nine innings.
He was selected off waivers this past May by the Seattle Mariners, splitting time between there and AAA Tacoma before becoming a free agent in November.
Wilson spent the 2021 campaign in Single-A Carolina, where he made 25 appearances this past spring. He was as high as AAA in the Milwaukee organization during September of the 2019 campaign before being released in August.
He was signed by the Angels and assigned to the Inland Empire 66ers, the organization's Low-A affiliate in San Bernadino, Calif.
Both of them have championship experience with the Seawolves, as Zamora won the 2015 league title and made a start in the NCAA Regionals against NC State, while Wilson was a huge part of the lineup in 2019 as Stony Brook knocked off Binghamton in the final to advance to the Baton Rouge Regional.
These are two of the more recent 37 Stony Brook Baseball alums who were either drafted or signed by Major League ballclubs after their time with the Seawolves, with 19 of them coming since the 2010 campaign.
