STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Seawolves and Orange played an even first half, which saw the teams take a 5-5 tie into the halftime break. Syracuse used a second half surge to push past Stony Brook as it outscored the Seawolves, 9-4, over the final 30 minutes en route to clinching a 14-9 win in its favor.

After Syracuse scored two-straight goals of its own, graduate midfield
Matt DeMeo evened the game at 3-3 with 38 seconds to play in the quarter. The Orange took a narrow one-goal lead (4-3) into the second quarter after a last second goal by Brendan Curry.

Noah Armitage (man-up) accounted for Stony Brook's two second quarter goals. The Seawolves locked in on the defensive end and held Syracuse to just one goal in the second quarter.
The game shifted in the second half as Syracuse outscored Stony Brook, 9-4, over the final two frames. The Orange went on a 7-0 run that gave them their largest lead of the day at 13-6 with 5:16 to play in the fourth quarter. Stony Brook scored a trio of goals down the stretch, including DeMeo's second tally of the day, but Syracuse was able to hang on and win by the final score of 14-9.
STATS AND NOTES
- DeMeo found the back of the net twice as he notched his second consecutive multi-goal game. He finished with three points (two goals, one assist) and one of his goals was a man-up finish.
- Senior goalie Anthony Palma was strong in the cage as he recorded 16 saves and a .533 save percentage. The 16 saves were tied for his second-most in a game this season (made 17 saves vs. Robert Morris on Feb. 19).
- Pallonetti scored twice and picked up two ground balls. The sophomore has scored at least one goal in every game of his collegiate career.
- Mack finished with a team-high four points as he recorded one goal and three assists. The three assists were one shy of tying his season-high. He has totaled three or more assists in four games this season and has done so in back-to-back games.
- Graduate Jacob Williams picked up a season-high six ground balls, which were one shy of tying his career-high of seven.
- Junior face-off specialist Renz Colon went 11-for-22 at the X and picked up four ground balls.
- Junior Michael Sabella, junior Christian Lowd, and senior David Miele-Estrella each totaled four ground balls apiece.
