ALBANY, N.Y. – Sophomore
Dylan Pallonetti entered Saturday's matchup at Albany with the second-longest goal scoring streak in the country. The sophomore was able to extend his goal scoring streak to 23 games in a row, but Stony Brook fell just short at Albany as the Great Danes came away with a 12-10 victory.
The Seawolves' offense came alive in the second half as it tallied nine goals over the final two quarters. Stony Brook went for six goals in the fourth as it mounted its comeback attempt, but was unable to go out in front of Albany. The Seawolves were able to cut the Great Danes' lead to as little as two on two separate occasions, but that was the closest they would come to tying the game up.
After being outscored 6-1 in the first half, Stony Brook's offense began to cut into Albany's lead. The Seawolves received second half hat tricks from Pallonetti and graduate midfield
Mike McCannell. The duo accounted for six of Stony Brook's 10 goals as they helped the Seawolves narrow the deficit.
With 7:15 to play, Pallonetti rattled the cage for the third time and cut the Albany lead to 10-8. The Great Danes received back-to-back goals down the stretch to extend their advantage to 12-8. Graduate attack
Kevin Mack scored a pair of goals over the final two minutes, but that would be the closest that Stony Brook would get as Albany held on to win, 12-10.
After winning each of the last two meetings with Albany, the Seawolves fell to the Great Danes for the first time since the 2018 season. Today's meeting marked the first up in Albany since March 31, 2018, when the Great Danes defeated the Seawolves, 13-7.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"At the end of the day we can't score one goal in the first half and expect to win. I thought we battled in the second half but just dug ourselves too big of a hole," said head coach
Anthony Gilardi.
