PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Seawolves put all three aspects of the game together – offense, defense, and pitching – to earn a sweep with wins over Saint Peter's and Holy Cross on Sunday. Stony Brook first defeated the Peacocks, 5-4, in game one, and followed up that performance by shutting out Holy Cross, 5-0, to conclude the Rutgers Tournament with a 3-1 record.
The Seawolves received another complete game win from graduate pitcher
Dawn Bodrug, who went the distance for the ninth time this season en route to her sixth win in the circle. Stony Brook used a four-run bottom of the fourth inning to go up, 5-2, in the game. Saint Peter's plated two in the top of the seventh, but Bodrug closed the door to seal the victory for the Seawolves.
Stony Brook carried the momentum over from its win over Saint Peter's into the second game of the day against Holy Cross. The Seawolves slugged three home runs and junior pitcher
Ashton Melaas and senior pitcher
Shelbi Denman combined to shutout the Crusaders.
GAME 1: STONY BROOK – 5, SAINT PETER'S – 4
- Bodrug tossed her ninth complete game of the season as she pitched 7.0 innings and allowed four runs (earned) on five hits. The graduate struck out 10 batters as she recorded her fifth double-digit strikeout performance of the season and fourth in as many starts.
- Sophomore infielder Sofia Chambers opened the scoring for Stony Brook with an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the second inning. Chambers went 2-3 on the day with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
- Junior infielder Brooke Dye brought in the first runs of the Seawolves' four-run bottom of the fourth inning. Dye dropped down a bunt hit, which plated freshman outfielder Alyssa Costello. Chambers also scored on the play due to an error by the third baseman. Dye was 2-3 in the game with the RBI and a run scored.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"It was great to finish our weekend strong with two well-played wins. Most importantly, we put all three parts of the game together – pitching, defense, and offense – and everyone in the lineup contributed. These were true team victories," said head coach
