BOSTON – Freshman Alyssa Costello has earned conference Player and Co-Rookie of the Week honors following a standout week for the Seawolves' softball team. The freshman hit .550 (11-20) with two home runs, six RBI, and six runs scored over six games. She recorded a .950 slugging percentage and a .550 on-base percentage. In addition, the freshman stole three bases, totaled nine putouts, and an assist.
 
Costello went 2-4 at the dish with a home run and four RBI in the win over Fairfield on Saturday. Costello launched a grand slam in the top of the eighth inning to give the Seawolves a 5-1 lead. The homer was the first of her collegiate career. She then went 1-3 with a two-run home run in game two on Saturday vs. Drexel.
 
Costello continued her hot hitting as she went 3-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base on Sunday morning vs. Saint Peter's. It marked her first career three-hit game. She wrapped up her hot weekend by going 2-4 with two doubles, a run scored, and a stolen base in game two on Sunday vs. Holy Cross.
 
Stony Brook is back in action today, when it goes head-to-head with Hofstra at 3 p.m. The Seawolves and Pride split the 2021 season series with Hofstra taking game one of a doubleheader, 4-1, and Stony Brook winning game two, 4-3.
