CULLOWHEE, N.C. — A four-run seventh inning gave the Stony Brook baseball program the lead for good, as the Seawolves rallied to knock off Western Carolina 5-4 on Friday afternoon.
Stanton Leuthner gave Stony Brook the lead for good with a two-run double to give his squad a 4-3 lead and
Shane Paradine added much-needed insurance with a run-scoring hit right after the Leuthner two-bag knock.
After the Catamounts took an early 3-0 lead, Paradine started the Stony Brook scoring in the sixth with a RBI single to right that scored
Derek Yalon to make it a 3-1 ballgame.
Yalon's fielder's choice scored
Brett Paulsen to make it 3-2 before Leuthner and Paradine combined to give Stony Brook the lead for good, snapping its five-game losing streak.
Brendan Patterman threw two innings in relief to earn the victory, while
Jack Carr earned the first save of his career with two scoreless frames to end the contest.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"During our losing streak, we have struggled with giving up the big inning, a lack of timely hitting and the bullpen closing out games. Thanks to Paradine's, Leuthner's and Yalon's big RBI hits, as well as the great jobs Patterman and Carr did out of the pen, we grinded this win out. Also, major kudos to starter
Ben Fero. He gave us a tremendous effort which the team really needed. But it took on an added importance because Ben also picked up his longtime teammate and close friend,
Nick DeGennaro, who suffered an injury last Friday against South Florida. I couldn't be more proud of Ben and the entire team."
