SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Seawolves got their West Coast trip started with a bang as they earned a pair of wins over Utah State, 5-0, and San Diego, 11-1. With the wins, Stony Brook moved to 6-1 on the young season as they outscored their opponents 16-1 on Friday.

Shelbi Denman. Bodrug took the ball in game one and spun a complete game three-hit shutout. Denman was in the circle in game two and picked up her third win of the season as she also went the distance as the Seawolves defeated the Toreros in five innings.
GAME 1: STONY BROOK – 5, UTAH STATE – 0
- Bodrug went the distance for the third-straight start as she stymied the Aggies' bats. The graduate tossed a complete game three-hit shutout and racked up a season-high 15 strikeouts in the process. It marked her 15th career double-digit strikeout performance and first since she punched out 12 batters against Albany on May 14, 2021. Bodrug recorded the first six outs of the game via strikeout and struck out the side in the top of the first inning. She surrendered two singles, a double, walked one, and hit a batter.
- The Seawolves jumped out to an early lead thanks to a three-run top of the first inning. Sophomore outfielder Alicia Orosco and sophomore infielder Kyra McFarland set the table as they both reached with singles. Senior infielder Lindsey Osmer and junior catcher Corinne Badger each drove in runs with RBI ground outs. Sophomore utility Catherine Anne Kupinski chased in the third run of the inning with a two-out RBI double to right to score sophomore outfielder Julianna Sanzone.
- Stony Brook tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Senior infielder Nicole McCarvill stole home and junior outfielder Shauna Nuss scored on an error.
- The Seawolves scattered four hits in the game with Orosco, McFarland, Kupinski, and McCarvill all tallying knocks.
- McCarvill and Nuss each stole a base in the game.
GAME 2: STONY BROOK – 11, SAN DIEGO – 1 (Final in 5 innings)
- Denman picked up her third win of the season as she went the full 5.0 innings, allowed one run (earned) on three hits, and struck out four.
- Stony Brook's 2-4 hitters went a combine 6-13 with one home run and 10 RBI.
- The Seawolves got on the board with a four-run top of the second inning. McFarland drove in a run with an RBI single and then Kupinski cleared the bases with a three-run double to left field.
- A five-run top of the third inning pushed the Seawolves out in front, 9-0. Badger clubbed a solo home run to left field – her team-best seventh homer of the season.
- Stony Brook added to the lead with a run scoring single by sophomore infielder Sofia Chambers to make it 6-0 and then McFarland singled in a run to put the Seawolves up 7-0.
- Osmer capped the big inning off with a two-run double to right field.
- McFarland went 2-3 with two RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base.
- Kupinski went 1-2 with three RBI, while Osmer was 1-4 with three RBI.
- Badger finished the game 2-4 with her seventh home run of the season.
STATS AND NOTES
- Bodrug earned her 23rd career win, 29th complete game, and 12th shutout. Through three starts this season, she's 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA. Bodrug has struck out 28 and has held opposing hitters to a .156 batting average.
- Denman recorded her 19th career win and 15th career complete game.
- Badger crushed her seventh home run of the season, she has homered in five of the Seawolves' seven games this season. She has recorded four multi-RBI games and three multi-hit games.
- McFarland went 3-6 on the day and extended her hitting streak to six games in a row.

Stony Brook is back on the field for two games on Saturday on the campus of San Diego State University. The Seawolves begin the day by going head-to-head with Yale at 10 a.m. (PT)/1 p.m. (ET), followed by a meeting with Long Beach State at 12:30 p.m. (PT)/3:30 p.m. (ET).
