WEST HARTFORD, CONN. — The Stony Brook baseball team fell in its series opener on Friday night, dropping a decision to Hartford to open the weekend set.
Stony Brook earned all three of its runs in the fourth inning of play, as
Matt Brown-Eiring shot a two-run home run to center field to cut the deficit to 5-2 before
Brett Paulsen scored on an error to make it 5-3.
Hartford responded with five runs in the fifth to close out the contest.
Evan Giordano joined Paulsen with a pair of hits on the day, going 2-for-3 each with a run scored.
Andrew Ledbetter finished the day with two scoreless innings of work, striking out one.
STATS AND NOTES
- Paulsen extended his on-base streak to a team-high 17 games with a pair of hits today.
- Brown-Eiring's home run was number three of the season and the fourth of his career.
- Giordano is now on a nine-game hitting streak, with multiple knocks in his last three contests. He has six-such performances over that stretch.
