FAIRFIELD, Conn. — College baseball icon
Matt Senk coached the 1500th game of his career on Wednesday afternoon, but the hosts Fairfield spoiled the party in a 9-2 defeat of Senk's Seawolves on the north side of the Long Island Sound.
Matt Miceli and
Chris Leone eached recorded multi-hit days, but the Seawolves offense could only muster five knocks on the afternoon.
Stony Brook's scoring came in the sixth, on a RBI single to left from
Matt Miceli, and in the ninth, on an
Adam Kuzmicki ground out.
Jack Carr,
Eric Foster and
Dawson Logie all tossed scoreless frames for the Seawolves pitching staff.
STATS AND NOTES
- Miceli recorded his third, multi-hit game of the season, while Leone added his second.
- Both of Leone's hits were for extra bases, including his first career triple.
- Foster made his season debut, holding the Stags hitless in his inning of relief.
- Carr also held Fairfield without a run and has held his opposition scoreless in all but one appearance this season.
