PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior
Evan Brennan made program history for the Seawolves at day one of the historic Penn Relays on Thursday at the University of Pennsylvania.
Brennan secured a first-place finish and set a new program record with a final time of 28:59.64 in the 10,000 meter. The junior surpassed the previous program record of 29:26.81, set by
Cameron Avery in 2019.
Seniors
Carlos Santos and
Robert Becker also earned top 10 finishes in their respective events. Santos earned a fifth-place overall finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase and Becker finished in seventh-place overall in the 1500 meter.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Brennan secured a first-place finish and set a new program record with a final time of 28:59.64 in the 10,000 meter.
- Santos earned a fifth-place overall finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a final time of 8:54.07.
- Becker finished in seventh-place overall in the 1500 meter with a final time of 3:48.41.
- Aiden Smyth and Conor Malanaphy rounded out the top 20 for Stony Brook in the 1500 meter earning 15th and 16th place finishes with final times of 3:52.32 and 3:52.74, respectively. Malanaphy also earned a new personal best.
- Shane Henderson crossed the line in 14:10.95 which was good for a 25th place finish and a new personal best in the 5000 meter.
- Ryan Dearie secured a top 40 finish and a new personal best in the 5000 meter with a final time of 14:19.06.
