UNION, N.J. — Evan Giordano had a career day on Saturday afternoon, driving in five runs on a 4-for-6 day at the plate, powering the Stony Brook baseball program to a 13-7 victory in game two of the three-game conference set.
All four of the Sewell, N.J., native's hits went for extra bases, with three straight doubles to start the day and a home run for good measure, aiding the Seawolves attack to eight runs in the first three innings and 10 in the first six frames.
Matt Senk's club started the day with back-to-back, three-run frames as
Matt Brown-Eiring delivered a RBI single to start the scoring before
Stanton Leuthner's two-out triple brought in a pair. The next inning, the Seawolves did it again, with Giordano lacing a two-run double to center before scoring on
Evan Fox's groundout.
Giordano added another two-run double in the third to make it 8-0 before combining with
Evan Fox to laser back-to-back long balls and give the Seawolves a double-digit run output.
After NJIT put up four over the next three frames, the Seawolves added three in the ninth.
Ryan Micheli drove in
Brett Paulsen on a sacrifice fly, while both Leuthner and
Cole Durkan scored on Highlander defensive miscues.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Overall, the team did a great job of moving on from yesterday's disappointing series-opening defeat.
Evan Giordano set the tone with his leadoff double to start the game and went on to have a great afternoon.
Brandon Lashley's performance wasn't the prettiest, but he made big pitches when we needed it. We have put ourselves in a position to win the series and we're looking forward to that opportunity tomorrow." - head coach
Matt Senk.
