STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Cole Durkan launched his third home run of the season but the Stony Brook baseball offense would only muster one more run in a 5-3 loss to UAlbany on Saturday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.
Durkan took a 1-1 pitch and parked it over the right-center field fence to knot the game at two.
One of
Brett Paulsen's four hits on the day came in the fourth, scoring
Shane Paradine to tie the game at three but UAlbany would score the final two in the seventh on back to back RBI doubles to make it 5-3.
STATS AND NOTES
- Paulsen's four hits and two doubles are both season highs for the junior infielder. It is his first, four-hit game since May 29, 2021 when he tallied that number against Maine. They also match the most hits by a Seawolves player in a game this season.
- With an infield single in the fourth, Matt Brown-Eiring extended his on-base streak to 17 games, the most by a Stony Brook player this season.
- Brandon Lashley made the start, recording a career-high six strikeouts over 4.2 innings of work.
- Book threw his longest relief outing of the season today, going 4.1 innings, allowing three hits and striking out three.
QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Them throwing two guys out at third was big for them, obviously. I also never like to have 11 strikeouts in a game, that is just too many for us. I don't know how many guys we left in scoring position, but doing that regularly is never good for us. They just seemed to make one more play, one more pitch than we did and we came out on the short end." - head coach
Matt Senk.
