VESTAL, N.Y. — Ben Fero threw 6.2 scoreless in a quality start, while
Quinlan Montgomery struck out four of the last five batters to help secure a Friday night victory at Binghamton by a 7-2 final.
Fero only allowed two hits, striking out eight to pave the way for the victory. The senior righty recorded stretches of six and eight retired in a row en route to his fourth quality start of the year and second consecutive.
Derek Yalon led the way offensively, starting the scoring with a RBI single to left in the third and a two-run double down the right-field line in the ninth to finish the scoring. The Seawolves added a four-run sixth to seize control of the contest.
STATS AND NOTES
- Fero has allowed two earned and struck out 12 over his last two starts. His eight today are a career-high besting his five he had at NJIT on April 29 and hosting UAlbany on April 8.
- Yalon recorded his first-career, three-hit day, going 3-for-5 at the plate. His three RBI are a new season-best and matched his career high, last done on March 27, 2021 at UAlbany.
- Coming on in relief, Montgomery recorded his first-career save by recording the final five outs of the night. He has struck out 16 over his last 11.1 innings of work and hasn't allowed a run in his last three appearances.
- Along with Yalon's three-hit outing, Evan Giordano and Brett Paulsen also had multi-hit days, recording two knocks apiece. The latter two have 13 multi-hit outings each, one-off the team lead, while Yalon recorded his fourth such performance of the season. Paulsen has also hit safely in six straight contests.
