5/26/2022 10:33:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sophomore Fiona McLoughlin competed in the 10,000 meter at day two of the NCAA East Preliminaries on Thursday in Bloomington, Ind.

Although McLoughlin did not finish in the 10,000 meter at the NCAA East Preliminaries, the Long Island native established herself as one of the best distance runners in the region this season.

The sophomore had a breakout season, most notably, earning a seventh-place overall finish at the Penn Relays in the 10,000 meter. Adding to her success, McLoughlin also secured a third-place finish in the 3000 meter at the ECAC Championships.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Down the road during her career, Fiona will look back on today and value the experience. Things did not play out the way we hoped, but she will be better prepared the next time she gets the opportunity to compete at this level. She has had a great year competing at a new level from last year and has now established herself as one of the best distance runners in the region," said head coach Andrew Ronan.
