STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The first multi-home run game of the season was just part of the Stony for
Matt Brown-Eiring and the Stony Brook baseball team, as they scored the last eight runs of the afternoon to turn a 7-7 deadlock into a controlling 15-7 victory over Long Island rivals Hofstra on Wednesday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.
The sophomore outfielder launched a pair of long balls, one over the left field fence and the other to dead central en route to a six-RBI day to lead the Seawolves past their future CAA foes. His liner to left to erase a deficit in the first inning, making it 3-2 to the home team.
He followed that up an inning later, clearing the bases with one swing, a double to left-center and giving the hosts a 6-2 advantage.
Hofstra scored five of the next six to tie it at seven at the halfway point of the afternoon.
Evan Giordano gave Stony Brook the lead in the bottom half of the fifth and the Seawolves were off and running, scoring the next eight to take control.
Seven different players recorded an RBI, nine different players had a hit and 11 Seawolves crossed home in the best offensive performance of the season for
Matt Senk's club.
STATS AND NOTES

- Giordano has recorded hits in three consecutive games, going 6-for-10 during that span with eight RBI, six runs scored and four doubles.
- Chris Leone recorded his third multi-hit game of the season and second in the last three outings.
- Eric Foster earned the first winning decision of his collegiate career, striking out a pair over his two innings of work.
QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"We're making our move to the CAA and it was good to play someone, not only in our conference, but right here on The Island and we were glad to get the win. We've struggled so much in midweeks and that's been disappointing how we've played our midweek schedule so I'm very happy that we were able to get one and extend our modest winning streak heading into the UMBC series this weekend." - head coach
Matt Senk
