RICHMOND, Va. – Stony Brook junior pitcher Mia Haynes has been named the CAA Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Haynes becomes the first player in program history to earn a CAA weekly award in the team's inaugural season in the conference.
 
Haynes went 2-0 in the circle for the Seawolves as she earned wins over Buffalo and CCSU. On Friday, she tossed a complete game shutout in the 8-0 win in five innings over Buffalo. She surrendered just three hits and struck out six in the win.
 
On Sunday, Haynes went the distance again as she tossed a complete game and struck out a season-high 13 in the Seawolves' 8-3 win over CCSU. For the weekend she compiled a 1.75 ERA and recorded 19 strikeouts.
 
For the season, she is 3-1 with a 2.62 ERA through five starts. She has recorded 26 strikeouts over 26.2 innings pitched.
 
Stony Brook will return to the diamond on Friday, March 3, when it plays in the FIU Tournament. It will face Stonehill at 10 a.m. and Nevada at 3 p.m., respectively on Friday.
