NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's track and field team competed in the Scarlet Knight Open, hosted by Rutgers University, at The Armory on Friday.
The Seawolves had four student-athletes combine to win the distance medley race. Sophomore
Grace Weigele, graduate
Tara Hauff, graduate
Rachel Ruggiero, and junior
Grace Sisson competed in the distance medley and combined to finish in 12:24.21, earning a first-place finish.
The Seawolves had student-athletes compete in three events in Friday's meet.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Stony Brook had three student-athletes compete in the 1000 meter. Hauff finished in 3:07.08, Ruggiero crossed the finish line in 3:09.34, and sophomore Maya Spottiswood finished the race in 3:13.92.
- Weigele earned a top five finish in the mile race, finishing in 4:54.24. Sisson finished shortly behind her in 5:01.82 and sophomore Niamh Durcan crossed the finish line in 5:08.46. Sisson and Durcan secured 14th place and 19th place finishes, respectively. All three runners set a new personal best.

Stony Brook will travel to Boston to compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University, on Friday, Feb. 10. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. It will also compete in the Fastrack National Invite at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, beginning at 1 p.m.
