Football Alumnus Tyrice Beverette Re-Signs with Montreal Alouettes in CFL

MONTREAL - Stony Brook football alumnus Tyrice Beverette '17 has resigned a one-year deal with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League. 

Beverette avoided free agency by returning to the Alouettes, after spending the 2022 season with the team.

In his first year with Montreal he became a starter. He totaled 55 defensive tackles, along with 21 special teams tackles. Beverette had one interception, which he returned 100 yards for a touchdown against Edmonton. His 100-yard return marked the fourth-longest in team history.

The Lakewood, New Jersey, native will enter his fourth season in the CFL in 2023. He spent his first two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, playing in a combined 22 games primarily on special teams.

Beverette spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018, before making his way to the Tiger-Cats in 2019

Beverette played at Stony Brook from 2013-2017. He appeared in 44 games in his final four seasons with the Seawolves, and totaled 262 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, 17 pass deflections, five interceptions, seven forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He was a three-time All-CAA selection and he led the Seawolves in tackles in both of his final two seasons.

In 2016, Beverette led the team with 98 tackles (59 solo, 39 assists), nine TFLs, 4.5 sacks, four interceptions, and four forced fumbles in 11 games. The following season in 2017, he recorded 96 tackles (64 solo, 32 assists), 10.5 TFLs, and 4.5 sacks in 13 games.
