RICHMOND, Va. – After pacing the Stony Brook women's soccer defense to a shutout against Campbell and 6-1 victory over Hampton this past week, senior defender Kerry Pearson takes home the CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday.

The Long Island native becomes the first member of the squad to take home the CAA honor this season. Also, this was the first weekly CAA award of her career.

In the 0-0 draw against Campbell on Thursday night at LaValle Stadium, Pearson was one of four Seawolves to tally all 90 minutes on the pitch. She helped the Stony Brook defense by only allowing six shots the entire match, including just three shots on goal. Also, she notched two shots against the Fighting Camels.

Pearson and the squad earned their first CAA victory of the season against Hampton on Sunday afternoon after exploding for a season-high six goals and allowing just one to secure the 6-1 win. The senior guided the defense for Stony Brook by allowing just seven shots and two shots on goal (one in each half) to control the possession. Pearson also played 59 minutes, which was the third most on the team in the victory.

Stony Brook will return to the pitch on Thursday night when they host Delaware University at 6:31 p.m. The Seawolves will look to continue their recent success against the Fightin' Blue Hens as they've won their previous three meetings.
