RICHMOND, Va. – The CAA announced the 2023-24 women's basketball schedule on Wednesday, highlighted by back-to-back battles to begin the conference season inside Island Federal Arena.
The conference office previously announced each institution's home and away opponents for this upcoming season last month. Game times and television information for the 2023-24 regular-season slate will be released at a later date.
Stony Brook's 18-game CAA slate, which features nine home games and nine away bouts, begins on the Island with a home matchup against Campbell on Friday, Jan. 5, its first league action with the newest member of the conference. Following the home-opener, the Seawolves welcome UNC Wilmington on Sunday, Jan. 7.
The squad will take their first roadtrip of the year when they head to Baltimore to battle Towson on Friday, Jan. 12. After the contest in Maryland, the team makes a short trip to Delaware on Sunday, Jan. 14 to battle the Fightin' Blue Hens.
After Stony Brook hosts the College of Charleston on Jan. 19 at Island Federal Arena, the Seawolves play three of their next four games on the road.
The team makes its first-ever trip to Campbell University on Jan. 21 before returning home to host Drexel on Jan. 28. After the matchup against the Dragons, the squad will open up the month of February with a short trip to the other side of town, traveling to Hempstead to face Hofstra in the Battle of Long Island on Feb. 2. Stony Brook then heads to the Jersey Shore to face Monmouth on Feb. 4.
Stony Brook will play four of their next five games in front of Seawolves Nation to close out the month of February. First, the team hosts Towson on Feb. 9, then travels to Boston to face Northeastern on Feb. 11 before playing three consecutive home matchups. The Seawolves will host the Pride of Hofstra University in the second edition of the Battle of Long Island on Feb. 16 to begin the three-game homestand. A matchup with Elon follows on Feb. 18, before the squad concludes its homestand and the month of February with a matchup against Northeastern on Feb. 25.
Long Island's team ends the regular season and begins the month of March with three road trips in their final four matchups. The Seawolves open the month with a battle in Philadelphia against Drexel on March 1. Then, Stony Brook will conclude its home slate with its first and only regular-season meeting against North Carolina A&T on March 3.
Following the home finale, Stony Brook will face Hampton in Virginia on March 7 and conclude the 2023-24 regular season on March 9 with a road contest against William & Mary.
All 14 teams will qualify for the 2024 CAA Women's Basketball Championship to be played March 13-17 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
