STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook women's soccer team opened up their 2023 CAA slate tonight at LaValle Stadium with their first-ever meeting against Campbell University and finished in a draw against the Lady Camels, 0-0.
The Seawolves were in control for most of the match as the squad tallied 16 shots compared to the six shots by the Lady Camels. Also, the squad had seven shots on goal against the the three by Campbell.
After
Nicolette Pasquarella earned her first save of the night in the 7th minute,
Kerry Pearson,
Linn Beck, and
Catharina von Drigalski totaled three shots over the next seven minutes but were unable to find the back of the net. Pearson would get another opportunity in the 36th minute, but the senior missed her mark just right to keep the match tied into the break.
In the second half, Stony Brook put the pressure on the Lady Camels defense by tallying 10 shots and seven corner-kicks, compared to the three shots and two corner-kicks by the Lady Camels.
In the 69th and 72nd minute, the Seawolves were inches away from taking the lead after
Ashley Bell and Beck both missed left to keep the match tied. Pasquarella piled up two saves in the second half to keep Campbell off the board and to ultimately force the 0-0 draw.
Game Notes
- Pasquarella piled up three saves for the Seawolves out of six total Lady Camels shots and tallied her second shut-out of the season.
- This was the first-ever meeting between these programs.
- Stony Brook is now 1-1-2 at home this season and 5-2-5 since the beginning of last season.
- Six shots by Campbell were the least by any opponent this season against Stony Brook.
- Stony Brook registered seven shots on goal and 16 total shots, including four by Linn Beck which led the team.
- von Drigalski led the team with two shots on goal.

"I thought we played well and created some good opportunities," Head Coach Tobias Bischof remarked postgame. "I'm very happy with our effort and our tactical discipline. We take the point and will try to follow up with three more points at Hampton on Sunday."
NEXT UP
The Stony Brook women's soccer team will return to the pitch on Sunday as they head to Hampton, Va., to take on Hampton University at 1:00 pm. The Seawolves defeated the Lady Pirates 11-0 on Sept. 25, 2022 in their only meeting all-time.
