STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook women's soccer, the 2024 CAA Champions, drew No. 4 seed Penn State as its opponent in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The contest is set for Saturday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m. in University Park, Pennsylvania.
The Seawolves make their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, entering the Big Dance riding a seven-match winning streak with a 14-3-3 overall record. Stony Brook has an RPI of 54, the lowest in program history since the shortened COVID season in 2020-21.
Stony Brook defeated Monmouth, 2-1, in the CAA Final on Saturday evening in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Linn Beck scored what proved to be the decisive goal, earning Most Outstanding Performer honors. Kerry Pearson, Reilly Rich and Luciana Setteducate joined Beck on the CAA All-Tournament Team.
Penn State, ranked 22nd nationally, defeated Minnesota in the opening round before falling to UCLA in the Big Ten Quarterfinal, earning a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Seawolves and Nittany Lions have met twice in the NCAA Tournament (2017 & 2019), with Penn State emerging victorious on both occasions. Stony Brook is in search of its first NCAA Tournament victory in program history, having lost in four previous trips to the Big Dance.
