STONY BROOK, N.Y. --The Stony Brook volleyball team could not out-play an opposing Tigers offense in Pritchard Gymnasium, losing to Towson in straight sets. The loss dropped the Seawolves' record to 14-11 overall and 7-8 in CAA action with only three matches left in the regular season.
Kali Moore finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Seawolves attack, while
Julia Patsos led defensively with 11 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | Stony Brook found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set, 25-19. The Seawolves trailed by as many as seven points as Towson took control with a 5-0 scoring run. Moore led with four kills, as Stony Brook tallied 11 total kills through the opening frame.
SET 2 | Stony Brook dropped the second set 25-18, falling behind 2-0 in the match. THe Seawolves once again trailed by as many as seven points as Towson grabbed a late advantage in a set that was knotted up six times. Stony Brook hit .118 in the second set with 10 kills as
Abby Campbell tallied three.
SET 3 | Towson finished the sweep with a third-set 25-19 win. It was another seven point deficit for the Seawolves but showed the squad's resilience as the set was knotted up eight times before the Tigers took control. It was a combined effort from Moore,
Leoni Kunz,
Quinn Anderson, Campbell, and
Ayanna Pierre Louis.
