Clackett Claims First-Place Finish to Pace Seawolves at Monmouth Spring Opener

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Another first-place finish capped off a strong performance for the Stony Brook University women's outdoor track and field team at the Monmouth Spring Opener on Saturday.

Senior Rebecca Clackett bested the field with a first-place finish in the 800-meter dash. Three other Seawolves notched top-three finishes on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Clackett took first place in the 800-meter dash. She finished in (2:16.64). 
  • Niamh Durcan placed second in the 1,500-meter (4:37.81). 
  • Kyra Franks took third in the 400-meter (58.61).
  • Danella Dawkins placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.48).

"George continues his assault on our record books and increases his profile on the conference and regional level," head coach Andy Ronan noted. "Today was another day of impressive performances, including a wind-aided sub-21-second 200m. Mike and Rebecca had nice wins, and Alexander Kanes creeps closer to the school record in the long jump."

UP NEXT
Stony Brook will return to action on Friday and Saturday, with the team splitting events at the Colonial Relays.
