AVON, Conn. - The Stony Brook University men's lacrosse team defeated Dartmouth, 15-12, on Tuesday evening in a neutral site contest at Avon Old Farms in Connecticut. Dylan Pallonetti registered a game-high seven points (four goals, three assists), while Noah Armitage and Ryan Barker tallied hat tricks in the victory. Defensively, Tommy Wilk made 12 saves to earn his second win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dartmouth opened the scoring with a man-up goal, but back-to-back Stony Brook goals from Barker and Pallonetti put the Seawolves in front. After Dartmouth regained the lead, the Seawolves ran off three straight goals to carry a 5-4 lead into the second period.
Dartmouth's own three goal run put the Big Green on top 6-5 before Pallonetti evened the score and Armitage gave Stony Brook a 7-6 advantage. Stony Brook widened the gap, taking an 11-8 lead into the halftime break. The Big Green scored the first two goals of the third quarter, but Stony Brook shut them out for the final six-plus minutes of action and re-gained its three-goal advantage with tallies from Pallonetti and a Garrett Gibbons long-range rocket with three seconds remaining.
The Seawolves' defense continued to stifle Dartmouth, not allowing the Big Green to narrow the gap further than two goals, closing out a 15-12 victory with Ben Morschauser providing the icing on the cake with a goal in the final minute.
