STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's soccer head coach
Tobias Bischof announced the addition of Wofford transfer Marissa Read to the program for the 2024 season.
"We are very happy to add Marissa to our already strong goalkeeper squad," Bischof said. "Marissa was mature but showed her excitement for Stony Brook during the recruiting process. I am excited to work with her."
Read comes to the Island after spending her freshman season at Wofford. A 5-9 goalkeeper from Louisville, Kentucky, she did not appear in a contest during her rookie year. Read is competing this summer with Racing Louisville FC in the USL W League.
Scholastically, Read received four varsity letters at Kentucky Country Day and set school records for saves in a single game, saves in a season (161), consecutive shutouts (five) and fewest goals against in a season (14). She was named to the KHSAA All-District team three times and earned All-Region honors as well. Read helped her team win a regional championship in 2020.
