Women's Soccer Shuts Out UMass Lowell, 4-0

LOWELL, Mass. – The Stony Brook University women's soccer team shutout UMass Lowell, 4-0, on Thursday evening at Cushing Field. Hedvig Helling, one of four Seawolves goal scorers, netted the first goal of her collegiate career in the road victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stony Brook opened the scoring when Linn Beck notched her second goal of the season in the seventh minute, deflecting a shot from Reilly Rich.

The Seawolves extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Gabrielle Cote -- her fourth goal of the season -- in the 17th minute, assisted by Beck.

Stony Brook went up 3-0 on Luciana Setteducate's 23rd-minute goal, her third of the season. Cote assisted the goal.

The Seawolves kept UMass Lowell off the board and took a 4-0 lead with a 31st-minute goal from Hedvig Helling, her first goal of the season.

Stony Brook's four goals in the first half accounted for all of the scoring in the match. Stony Brook dominated possession, finishing with stark edges in shots (26-5) and shots on goal (14-3). The Seawolves also saw three clang off the woodwork and were denied by multiple highlight reel saves by the River Hawks' keepers.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"I'm very happy with our performance today," head coach Tobias Bischof said. "We were defensively strong, holding Lowell to only three shots on goal and offensively we created a lot of opportunities and had 26 shots. It was a whole team effort and that is always great to see as a coach."

NEXT UP
Stony Brook continues on the road, heading to Durham to face the University of New Hampshire on Sunday. The Seawolves and their former America East foe face off at 2 p.m. with the contest streaming live on ESPN+.
