STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Five Stony Brook football student-athletes—
Taylor Bolesta,
Jackson Dorr,
Anthony Ferrelli,
Enda Kirby, and
Clayton Taylor—have been named to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-District Team. The organization announced the honors on Tuesday afternoon, recognizing these athletes for their exceptional performances both on the field and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-District Team celebrates the nation's top student-athletes who excel in athletics and academics. To qualify, nominees must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing, and be a starter or key reserve on their team. In football, athletes must have participated in at least 90% of their team's games or started 66% of the season's contests.
A senior captain from Pennsylvania, Bolesta was a defensive stalwart for the Seawolves. This season, he recorded 19 tackles (10 solo), six tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and a career-high 3.0 sacks. Bolesta registered a tackle in nine of 12 games, with standout performances including four tackles in a victory over Fordham and two tackles for loss in the win against Morgan State. Bolesta holds a 3.53 cumulative GPA and a 3.73 undergraduate GPA, and he recently graduated with a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies.
Hailing from Colorado, Dorr served as the primary holder, playing a key role in
Enda Kirby's record-breaking kicking season. He helped Kirby achieve a program-record 17 field goals at an 85% completion rate—the second-best in program history. Academically, Dorr graduated with a degree in Business Management with a specialization in Finance, maintaining a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Ferrelli led the Seawolves' defense, posting a career-high 84 tackles (38 solo and 46 assisted), 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three pass deflections, and a fumble recovery. The linebacker ranked among the top-20 in the league for total tackles, averaging 7.0 per game. Ferrelli recorded at-least five tackles in 11 of 12 games and reached double figures in games against Marshall and William & Mary. He holds a 3.61 cumulative GPA, majoring in Business Management with a specialization in Finance and minoring in Accounting.
An All-CAA recipient, Kirby had a record-breaking season, setting the program record for most field goals in a single season (17) with an 85% completion rate—the second-best in school history. He led the CAA in field goal percentage and tied for the most field goals made in the conference. Kirby also hit eight consecutive field goals to end the season and twice set a career-long 41-yard field goal. He holds a 3.51 cumulative GPA, majoring in Health Science.
In his third season as the Seawolves' punter, Taylor had a career year. The Australian recorded career-highs in total punting yards (2,622), average yards per punt (42.3), punts inside the 20-yard line (19), and punts of 50 or more yards (9). He did not have a punt blocked on 62 attempts this season and finished with the third-highest punting yardage in the CAA. Taylor recorded a punt inside the 20-yard line in 10 of 12 games, including multiple punts in seven games. He holds a 3.55 cumulative GPA, majoring in Business Management with a specialization in Finance.
