STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook fell 3-2 to Hofstra on Saturday at LaValle Stadium. Jamie Orson netted the go-ahead goal with less than nine minutes to play, but the Pride scored twice in the final 4:01, including the game-winner with 36 seconds left to upend the Seawolves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stony Brook started the scoring when Ryan Farr scored his third goal of the season in the 39th minute, assisted by Ryota Kono and Bruno Penney.
The Pride levelled the game on a goal from Daniel Burko in the 54th minute, assisted by Pablo Hempelmann-Perez and Owen Barnett.
Stony Brook then busted up the 1-1 tie on Jamie Orson's 82nd-minute goal, his third of the season. Alex Fleury assisted the goal on a setpiece from the corner.
The Pride tied it up at 2-2 with an 86th-minute goal from Laurie Goddard, assisted by Stefano Campisi. The goal was initially ruled offsides, before a lengthy video review overturned the call and confirmed Hofstra's equalizer.
Hofstra grabbed a late lead on Burko's goal in the 90th minute, assisted by Goddard and Thengill Orrason. The goal ended the 3-2 match.
STATS AND NOTES
- Heidar Hermannsson collected three saves for the Seawolves out of 24 total Pride shots.
- Farr's lidlifter was his third goal of the season.
- Orson's third goal of the season gave Stony Brook a lead in the final 10 minutes.
- Hofstra finished with a 24-6 edge in total shots. The Pride had six shots on net compared to Stony Brook's three.
