STONY BROOK, N.Y. - After trailing 1-0 in the second half,
Caleb Danquah converted a penalty kick for his fourth goal of the season, securing a 1-1 draw against Holy Cross on Tuesday night at LaValle Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a defensive battle where neither team registered a shot in the first eight minutes, Holy Cross created the game's first chance in the box. However, an offside call against the Crusaders kept the match scoreless in the eighth minute.
- The Seawolves found their first opportunity in the 13th minute off a set piece by Alex Fleury, but a header in the box sailed just wide of the net.
- Stony Brook's defense remained solid in the 20th minute, clearing a Holy Cross corner kick out of danger thanks to Wilson, who regained possession for the Seawolves.
- Finlay Oliver nearly opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, heading a corner from Danquah that was blocked at the last second by a Crusader defender. On the ensuing corner, Holy Cross again denied Stony Brook, as Sebastian Drummond's header went over the crossbar.
- In the 26th minute, Fleury made a strong run downfield and nearly gave the Seawolves the lead, but a sharp save by Holy Cross at the near post kept the game level at 0-0.
- Stony Brook came close again in the 38th minute when Nelson Reynoso delivered a set piece into the box. Drummond rose for the header, but it went just high over the net, narrowly missing the game's opening goal.
- The Seawolves came out aggressive to start the second half. In the 49th minute, Stony Brook registered back-to-back shots—Kyle Smith's attempt was blocked, and a follow-up strike by Nelson Reynoso was saved to keep the match scoreless.
- Holy Cross broke through in the 55th minute, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal from Oscar Quinn Pasin, who finished with his right foot into the bottom left corner of the net, assisted by Penzone and Cull.
- Stony Brook responded immediately in the 56th minute with a shot from Farr, but the Crusaders' keeper came up with the save.
- The Seawolves applied heavy pressure in the 64th minute, with three quick shots in the box from Oliver, Farr, and Orson. However, Crusader goalkeeper Hafner Schnee made a series of saves to preserve the 1-0 lead.

- Stony Brook earned a penalty kick in the 73rd minute following a foul in the box by the Crusaders. Danquah stepped up and calmly converted, netting his fourth goal of the season to level the score at 1-1.
