Stony Brook Sweeps Series vs. First-Place Towson

TOWSON, Md. - The Seawolves completed the weekend sweep against first-place Towson today with a four-set victory (25-13, 25-21, 25-27, 25-18) Saturday on the road

The Seawolves were led by a double-double from Kali Moore, who registered 19 kills and 19 digs on the day. Quinn Anderson also added 13 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Madison Cigna chipped in for with 17 digs to go with six blocks from Ayanna Pierre Louis.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Seawolves grabbed control of the set-one lead at 6-5 and never trailed again as they cruised to a 25-13 victory. Stony Brook opened up its biggest lead, 12 points, to finish off the set, collecting 17 kills with a .615 attack percentage while only registering one attack error along the way. Anderson led the way with seven kills, while Mopelola Ojo added five.

SET 2 | Stony Brook continued to roll after a set-one win by earning a 25-21 victory in set two. After coming out with a tied score of 8-8, the Seawolves pulled ahead for good with a 4-0 run featuring three kills from Moore, followed soon after by a 5-0 run to make it 17-10. Though the Tigers briefly cut the lead down to two at 23-21, Stony Brook managed to hold on and take the set.

SET 3 | Towson avoided an early loss with a set-three victory to make it a 2-1 match. Thanks to multiple kills from Moore and Anderson, the Seawolves fought back from a seven-point deficit at 20-13 to force a tiebreaker, but in the end it was Towson who gained the edge and took the set 27-25.

SET 4 | Stony Brook then responded to close out the match with a 25-18 set-four victory. Tied early at 6-6, the Seawolves went on a 7-0 run, including four straight kills from Moore, to blow the set wide open. Thanks to seven Tiger errors, the Seawolves were able to hold on and close out the match.

Game Notes
» Moore's 19 digs are a new season high for her. Along with her 19 kills she secured her 10th double-double of the season.
» Ava Zamora had 31 assists today, giving her four consecutive matches with at least 30.

The Seawolves return to Stony Brook for their final home series of the season next week when they host North Carolina A&T for two, starting Friday, November 7 at 5 p.m. The match will be streamed live on FloCollege.
