Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Stony Brook Downed by Central Arkansas on Day Two of GSU Thanksgiving Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. — Stony Brook women's basketball dropped a neutral-site contest to Central Arkansas, 70-42, on Tuesday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia. Janay Brantley paced the Seawolves with 11 points and two blocks. Caitlin Frost added six points and 10 rebounds and Johanna Potter helped out with four points off of the bench.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stony Brook built an early 10-5 lead, with Brantley providing five of the Seawolves' 10 points through the opening five-plus minutes of play. The Seawolves then struggled out of the ensuing media timeout, seeing the Sugar Bears go on a 12-0 run to take a 17-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Back-to-back Brantley baskets to start the second quarter stopped Stony Brook's offensive skid. Stony Brook pulled within three points of Central Arkansas on two separate occasions following points from Frost and Potter before a 9-0 spurt put the Sugar Bears back in front by double-figures. The Seawolves continued to lose ground in the second quarter, facing a 39-22 halftime deficit.

Central Arkansas' lead ballooned to as large as 25 points in the third quarter. Free throw makes from Sandra Frau Garcia and Delaney Cooper cut into that lead, though the Seawolves still trailed by 22 entering the final frame. Stony Brook did not pull much closer in the fourth, falling by a final tally of 70-42 to Central Arkansas.
